BLUE VELVET * THE CLOVERS * ATLANTIC 1052 * USA

This song was revived in 1986 through the film of the same name directed by David Lynch. The film takes it's cue from a version of the song by Italian American singer Bobby Vinton, who's 1963 recording was originally used as a 'Blue' song on an album of songs with blue in the title. In 1951, long before Bobby Vinton, Tony Bennett, another Italian American singer, had recorded the song. The Clovers beautiful vocal harmony version was released for the Christmas market in December 1954, with John "Buddy" Bailey on lead vocals. The other members of The Clovers at the time of this recording were: Billy Mitchell, Matthew McQuater, Harold Lucas, Harold Winley and Bill Harris.
