FAR LOVE * OWEN GRAY * STARLITE 015 * UK

Owen Gray's first release on the Starlight label - a precursor to the Island label - is something of a sop to those who might be feeling the pangs of separation caused by immigration. Both sides of the record address this theme, the A side Please Let Me Go is obviously about departing for distant lands, and Far Love is about - if anything - following a loved one "far across the sea", and while the lyrics seem not to amount to much - it was the sentiment that was important - the track has a good 'shuffle' beat and a fine saxophone led instrumental break.
