BIG MAN * THE MAYTALS * PYRAMID 6055 * UK

Produced by Leslie Kong this was the second time The Maytals had recorded and released Big Man, the first was a Jamaican only release in 1967 on BMN, produced by Byron lee/Ronnie Nasralla, titled I'm A Big Man. The Above version, a Beverly's release JA, is another of those records that fall between two musical phases as it has elements of both Rock Steady and Early Reggae, though I feel it has more of the latter. Interestingly it is not what could be called a typical Maytals cut either, even though it has the strong vocal harmonies that are so much a part of the trio.
