THE WORLD NEEDS LOVE * ROY SHIRLEY * AMALGAMATED 815 * GB

He was born Ainsworth Roy Rushton, 1948, Kingston, and first recorded for Leslie Kong in 1964, this track, produced by Joel Gibson, predates his big hit Hold Them, also produced by Gibson, a song that remains a point of contention with Shirley, as it was, in his estimation, stolen by Coxsone who recorded it with Ken Booth as Feel Good, affecting Shirley's sales considerably.
