THE MEDUCIA * TOMMY McCOOK * ATTACK 8110 * UK

Set to the No Woman No Cry rhythm hornsman Tommy McCook takes it over and develops his own beautiful music; although just why he names it The Meducia, which is possibly Medusa, is not clear. Gorgo or Medusa, is a terrible monster in Greek mythology, and, according to the Oxford Classical Dictionary, Gorgo was the daughter of the marine deities Phordys and Ceto. She had a round ugly face, snakes instead of hair, and a belt of the teeth of a boar, sometimes a beard, huge wings, and eyes that could transform people into stone. What's more, she had two immortal sisters, who in art are shown in the shape of Gorgons, Stehenno ('the Strong') and Euryale ('the Wide Leaping'), with whom she lived in the far West, where Poseidon loved her. It would seem that she may have been an independent earth goddess, and that her head always remained a popular apotropaic symbol.
