1954

ROSE MARIE * SLIM WHITMAN * LONDON 8061 * UK

1954 was a good year in England for Country singer Slim Whitman, he had no less than eight different 45s an EP and and LP released on the London label. That's almost one a month, and for one of the few American Country singers being issued in GB, but it wasn't until the summer of following year that Rose Marie hit the coveted number one slot, spending a total of 19 weeks on the charts. !956 also saw both sides of his first release of 1954 China Doll (2 weeks) and Indian Love Call (12 weeks) separately in the charts on the strength of the popularity of Rose Marie.
