Lou Johnson never got a high public profile in the UK, partly because his first three British releases were covered by more well known and better marketed acts. Written by Bacharach and David A Message To Martha was the third of this trio, and although cover versions took this song in a Pop/MOR direction, Lou Johnson's cut is pure Soul.
