New Orleans born Donnie Elbert was raised in New York from the age of three he sang with The Vibra-Harps for a short while before going solo and cutting his debut release for Beech in 1958. The self penned Soul ballad Can't Get Over Losing You (not the same song as The Isley Brothers) was his only release on the Rare Bullet label, it was subsequently released with two different flip sides on the Elbert label neither of which were the same as the Rare Bullet flip.
