JAMIE * EDDIE HOLLAND * MOTOWN 1021 * USA
Eddie Holland's first release on Motown is, for me, not only one of the best male vocals to come from Motown, but one of the finest Soul vocals of the period. Its dramatic and swirling emotional changes take the listener on an exciting and moving journey of sheer musical pleasure, which although only lasting for just over two minuets seems to fill an vast expanse of inner space. Released in January 1962 Jamie was to be his only commercially successful record, although he had many a hit as part of the song writing phenomenon Holland-Dozier-Holland.
