LET THE WATER RUN DOWN * BEN E. KING * ATLANTIC 4007 * UK
Recorded in New York, May 16, 1964, produced by Bert Berns, and arranged by Phil
Medley, Let The Water Run Down was released in the UK in October 1964 as the B side to
It's all Over. The song has an energetic up-tempo beat with some rock-solid
girl singers backing up, which is enjoyably at odds with the desolation of the
lyrics.
Released in the US on Atco #6315 (I always thought he should have been on Atlantic) the recording was to be one of the last times Ben E. King was to work with Bert Berns, who would shortly launch his own Bang and Shout labels.
