YOUR FRIENDS * DEE CLARK * TOP RANK 551 * UK
A self penned song very much in the 'Nobody Knows You When Your Down And Out' mould; a concept that has been around for a long long time. I suppose this sort of things happens more spectacularly if and when one is either suddenly rich or famous or both, and then looses all just as suddenly, never have been either I can't say for certain but it does seem a popular sentiment with many recording artists. Of course it can be said that one doesn't have to be either rich or famous to have experienced feelings of social exclusion or the disappearance of friends when in need, but generally speaking if one has little to speak of in the first place and yet has friends then the reason for any desertion of those friends or acquaintances is hardly likely to be because you no longer are dishing out the dosh, which is at the thrust of these songs.
