I CALL IT LOVE * THE MANHATTANS * CARNIVAL 533 * USA
Although they were from Jersey City, New Jersey they called themselves The Manhattans, which does sound more sophisticated than The Jersey's, and sophistication is what they were all about on their records. The group enjoyed reasonable success during their mid 1960s career, but it wasn't until 1976 when their Kiss And Say Goodbye went to number one on both the R&B and Pop charts.
Written by founding member Edward 'Sonny' Bivins, I Call It Love is a cool, laid back, ballad with some sweet backing vocals and a nice contrasting slightly up-beat rhythm.
