The Chiffons, who it is said chose their name out of a hat, first started to sing together as a group in 1960 while still at high school in the Bronx, Judy Craig was only fourteen at the time, while Patricia Bennett and Barbara Lee were still only thirteen. The groups first release on the Big Deal label was a cover of the Shirelles Tonight's The Night, both records were successful, although the original faired better. The group later signed with Laurie and joined by Sylvia Peterson they scored with their first release He's So Fine, the above was their third release.
Earmarked by writers Goffin and King for Little Eva who's voice didn't fit the demo tape; then, still using the original demo track, The Chiffons were given One Fine Day with production by The Tokens (who had produced the groups previous hit He's So Fine). Also released in stereo in the USA (see Below).
