WOMAN'S GOT SOUL * THE IMPRESSIONS * ABC-PARAMOUNT 10647 * USA

Though many of the Impressions ABC Paramount recordings of the 1960s, released in the UK on HMV, were popular with Soul music fans unlike their LPs they always seemed elusive on 45s, the only  record to get up into the British charts (top 50) was First Impressions in 1975, long after Curtis Mayfield had left the group. It may be that HMV did not promote them well - the label had barely a hand full of Soul groups on their catalogue, the Tams being the only other moderately well known group- so that fans may have assumed that their records were not released in Britain. Whatever the reason when records like Woman's Got Soul were seen at specialist import shops they were usually snapped up by eager Impressions fans, especially so because of the added bonus of the attractive, multi coloured labels. As was the above one of a limited amount of copies shipped into England, probably illegally, via Ireland and down into Transatlantic Imports in London's Soho retailing at three times the cost of a HMV copy.
