BIG MAMOU * SMILEY LEWIS * IMPERIAL 5234 * USA

Sung by Smiley Lewis, Big Mamou sounds less like a song of desertion and its sad consequences than a tongue-in-cheek style good-riddance.  Released in the first half of 1953, the song, written by Link Davis, was a Pop hit for & Pete Handley and The Leyden Brothers Orchestra, not only that, having visited the town of Big Mamou I can categorically state that there is nothing Big about it, not in feet and inches anyway.
