The extremely influential singer Charles Brown started out singing professionally with Johnny Moore's Three Blazers shortly after WW1, playing small clubs in and around Los Angeles; their first record was for the Philo label. Charles Brown went solo in 1948, his first release was Ooh Sugar on - the renamed Philo label - Aladdin # 3020 .
