WHEN I'M WITH YOU * THE MOONGLOWS * CHESS 1629 * USA

Jay Warner tells us, in American Singing Groups 1940 - 1990, that When I'm With You is one of Harvey Fuqua's favourite Chess sides. The song, a beautifully harmonised ballad, was written by Fuqua and Dallas (a.k.a. lead singer Bobby Lester) but also credits McCoy (Van?), and reached the number fifteen spot on the R&B charts. The up tempo flip side See-Saw did better in its own right and climbed to number six on the same charts, making this the groups only double sided hit.
