Although Jerry Butler co-wrote this song it is not the same as the other version of For Your Precious Love he cut with the Impressions. On this version to start with Linda Jones sticks closely to the Papa Don arrangement of the previous recording by Oscar Tony Jr., but she soon adds her own lyrical interpretations and shifts into another expressive gear taking the Soul of this song on to a meta-emotional plane that is a familiar character of her art.
