THE THRILL IS GONE * OSCAR TONY JR. * CONTEMPO 7702 * USA

As a young man Oscar Tony, JR. sang Gospel in The Sensational Melodies Of Joy, his first secular recording was with The Searchers (not those Searchers) in 1960. His first record under his own name was for King in 1964, the above seems to be one of his last recordings, issued as the B side to Is It Because I'm Black. Backed by Ultra Funk, Oscar Toney turns in a top performance on this Bluesy cut that's better known by B. B. King.
