WHO WAS THAT LADY * JOE SIMON * SPRING 138 * USA

With something like twenty seven 45s released on Spring it is understandable, though I haven't got them all, that I should overlook one or two in the past. Which is precisely what happened with this one, for years it was an also ran, then right out of the blue while playing it I had to take a double take on the record, and wonder once again how could such a great record have left me unimpressed for so long. Well that's how it goes sometimes, but the cut, written and produced by Brad Shapiro, is one of those enigmatic songs that leave me unsure if he is, in this case, singing about a woman or woman as metaphor for drugs or maybe something else.
