CHIE CHIE BUD * MAX ROMEO * PUNCH 73 * UK

Released in Jamaica on The Amalgamated and set to Lee Perry's I am the Upsetter rhythm Chie Chie Bud is a socially conscious song on which Max Romeo sings about the perennial difference between those with money and privilege and those with little or none.

A traditional song that has been reworked in, what was then, the contemporary language of the have-nots, Max Romeo creates  a nomenclature of  those two categories folk in Jamaica as he sees it.
