You see the music became a guideline and people (get) choose it, for if people choose the song where it can strengthen he or she. Music is more than just listening to it. People use the music for them protection at times. Burning Spear, from an interview with Carter Van Pelt 1995.

Burning Spear, a.k.a. Winston Rodney, was born 1st March 1945, St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica, the same parish as his childhood friend Bob Marley, Rodney took the name Burning Spear from the Mau Mau leader Jomo Kenyatta, first president of the Kenyan Republic. Rodney's first record, was the  incredible Door Peep for Coxsone Dodd in 1969. In 1975 he met up with sound system owner Jack Ruby who recorded the seminal Marcus Garvy with Rupert Wellington and Delroy Hines providing the harmonies.
