CASSAVA PIECE * AGUSTOS PABLO * HOT STUFF * JA
Known for what has been called the "Far East sound'', haunting, minor-key tunes with sparse lines played on the melodica, Augustus Pablo, who played a major roll in pioneering Dub music, was a gifted musician and arranger who died tragically young in 1999. Like many of the great names in Jamaican music he began working professionally at a very young age, he was a self taught pianist who became a Rastafarian while still a teenager, it was through his Rastafarian brethren that he met Bob Marley who brought him into the recording studio to play on some of the Wailers recordings.
