Guitarist Ernest Ranglin built his own guitar using a sardine can and wires and was reasonably proficient a guitarist at the tender age of seven; which doesn't so much prove the point that adversity creates talent but that talent will overcome adversity. Written and produced by Ranglin Heart Beat is, at only one minuet forty eight seconds, a fine instrumental and an interesting transitional record containing elements of both the Rock Steady and Early Reggae genre's.
