BALTIMORE * TAMLINS * TAXI 110 * UK

Written by Randy Newman and recorded in a stellar version by Nina Simone, Baltimore was a song crying out to be recorded on a Reggae rhythm and The Tamlins: Carlton Smith, Junior Moore, and Derrick Lara, were an ideal group to cover it.  I would like to have heard them do a cut for Channel 1 as I'm sure the production would have been sweeter giving the dark and foreboding lyrics more of a counterpoint than the famous drum and bass sound of Sly and Robbie, none the less this Taxi production of The Tamlins rendition of such a poignant song still puts this cut of Baltimore in the upper musical bracket.
