By 1970 when the above record was released the herb marijuana was often openly referenced, under one or other of its various names, in the popular music of the West Indies. The Wailers released their homage to both the weed and its user with African Herbsman that same year for Lee Perry, while King Stitt and Andy Capp's open celebration of the drug Herbsman Shuffle, produced by Clancy Eccles, was in a more light hearted style.
A popular record in the UK as it was pressed up in both the earlier silver/green label design and the later yellow/red picture label (see below).
