In 1966 after many years singing and recording Gospel with The Meditations, Laura Newton, aka Laura Rundless, aka Laura Lee turned to secular music and recorded To Win Your Heart the vocal to Festival Time by The San Remo Golden Strings, on Ric Tic 111 and Ric Tic 112 respectively.
Win Your Heart was her only Ric Tic release after this she moved to Chess and in 1967 they released the uncompromising You Need Me (As Much As I Need You) on Chess 1989. The trade mark forceful straight talking, no nonsense lyrics of A Man With Some Backbone was her fourth for the label, a choice of song and style of delivery that was exemplified in her later recordings for Hot Wax and Invictus
