IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME * KIM WESTON * TAMLA 54076 * USA
Kim Weston's first record, and the first of three top versions of the song all for Berry Gordy's Tamla Motown corporation. The song was written by Norman Whitfield and Kim Weston's future husband Mickey Stevenson, and with it she gives a powerful performance setting the bench mark high for all future covers. Kim Weston claims that It Should have Been Me was Whitfield's first song, also the the B side Love Me All The Way was written by Mickey Stevenson for her, and it was that side that was a minor hit in the South.
