RESCUE ME * FONTELLA BASS * CHESS 8023 * UK
A instant hit both sides of the Atlantic - it was used as an unofficial anthem for the troops who were getting pointlessly slaughtered in Viet-Nam - this song sold a million in two months and although Fontella Bass co-wrote the song she was never given credit for it at the time, and consequently missed out on royalties due to her. She was able to secure her rights to the song some thirty years later and successfully sued the American Express Corporation and its advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather (for advertising read: propaganda pornography).
Great going girl, what a woman, not only did she make some class Soul records she also took on a multinational and one of it's running dogs. If she never did anything else she's done her bit, as far as I'm concerned, in the war against Globalist power, and in consequence is a real peoples Hero.
