This was Phil Spector at the height of his prowess, these records were big and brash and the young Mods in Great Britain couldn't help but adopt them for their own, although, partly because of their popular appeal, they quickly became a little neglected by Soul fans [I'm talking of myself here]. This was the fate of many Soul records that become victims of their own success; some of the hits by Sam Cooke and Ray Charles or from Tamla artists like the Four Tops (Reach Out For Me) Supremes (Where Did Our Love Go), one wonders if a record like Reach Out For Me was released by an unknown group on an obscure Detroit label how different it might be to its underground popularity.
