Originally released in the US in April 1958 on Capitol F3966, as Willie And The Hand Jive, it was issued in the UK the following month as The Johnny Otis Hand Jive. The speculation for the title change is because of the association of the name 'Willie' with the term 'hand jive', in the mind of person or persons unknown at EMI, implies onanism. This, if true, says more about the mind set of those at EMI than who they was censoring it for.
