Although this cut is from 1970 it is still very much an authentic 1960s Soul sound, with the great O. V. Wright singing with the restrained power of the Blues shouters of the 1950s. O. V. Wright died of a heart attack when he was just forty one and as if any proof were needed as to the deplorable way that such great artists are rewarded by the state and this winner-takes-all society, artists who give so much to balance what others take away, he is buried in an unmarked grave in Memphis, Tennessee; Yet thanks to Preston Lauterbach and others this unforgivable situation is going to be put right in the coming months with a headstone purchased by raised subscription.
