Sad news this week with the death of Solomon Burke, one of the great names in 1960s Soul music.
I'm Hanging Up My Heart For You was Solomon Burke's fourth for Atlantic and entered both the American Pop and Soul charts on two separate occasions. He established his credentials as a Soul singer in that early transitional period at the change of the decade with his first records for Atlantic, that by the time of the above release the fans of Soul music in the bourgeoning Mod culture on this side of the Atlantic Ocean had already taken this cool looking and Soulful sounding singer as their own.
