LOOK BACK AND SMILE * BILLY STEWART * CHESS 1978 * USA

The B side to Secret Love Billy Stewart's fourteenth release on the Chess label (his eighth UK). The A side, although it had been recorded to great effect by The Moonglows, was something of an MOR standard by the time of Billy Stewart's version, and I don't know if it was his idea to cut it or Lenoard and Marshall Chess' attempt to double up on  the success of his previous release Summertime, another of those 'Show Tunes'. Whatever the reason it never came off but fourtunatly Billy Stewart reverted to his more trade mark song with Look Back And Smile, which, with it's lilting Samba beat and tinkling piano is up there with the his best.
