SINCE YOU SHOWED ME HOW TO BE HAPPY * JACKIE WILSON * CORAL 72496 * UK
Since You Showed Me How To Be Happy and his previous release Higher And Higher was for many Soul fans in Southern England the two recordings that opened up a wealth of recordings from Jackie Wilson stretching back to at least to Reet Petiet his first release on the Brunswick label. Fortunately, for British Soul fans, on the strength of his success with Reet Petite, many of his records were released in the UK and had sold reasonably well making them relatively easy to find second hand. What's more when those Soul fans started looking into his back catalogue they discovered not only some fine early Soul recordings and his work with top R&B group The Dominoes, with whom he had sung lead vocals on over twenty releases, but his involvement with the embryonic musical career of Tamla Motown president Berry Gordy Jnr, and it was this connection with Berry Gordy that was to be a significant connection for Soul fans and early Motown enthusiasts that elevated his oeuvre to another level.
