BABY DO THE PHILLY DOG * THE OLYMPICS * FONTANA 778 * UK
As to celebrate the splendid achievements of the British athletes this weekend in Beijing and also commiserate on the Human Rights struggles of the Chinese underclass, the Tibetans and other minorities in China, I thought putting up an Olympics record might be in order to mark the occasion. Funny name for a group when you think of it, naming yourselves after a sporting event, even if it is the most spectacular in the world, I can't think of any other groups named after sporting events, like 'The Test Match', or 'The World Cup', or even 'The Henley Regatta'! Although to be fair most probably the intention is that they are the best, they are Olympians. The groups recording career is punctuated with dance oriented records from their first (I Wanna) Dance With The Teacher to The Duck. Though it was only The Bounce and Baby Do The Philly Dog which had any real credibility with dancers in clubs and dance halls of London and the south.
