The influential ballad La La Means I Love You was first record on Stan Watson's Philadelphia, PA. eponymous Philly Groove Records label, The Delfonics had cut two records prior to this one for Moon Shot and one for Cameo.
Recorded in the Cameo studios on March 5th 1968 La la was Thom Bell's third production / arrangement and The Delfonics first hit, reaching #2 on Billboards R&B chart and #4 Pop. It was released in the US first on a green label with no number in December 1967, it was subsequently picked up by Bell for national distribution in December 1968 as a red label (see above) it was first released in the UK on Bell in March 1968, then again on Bell in June 1971 (see below).
