Before the penny dropped on this title I was always fascinated by such an odd, seemingly surreal name for a Ska cut, but, none the less, accepted it for what it was. 'Pon' is of course the pidgin English for 'upon' or in this case just 'on'; as in the old Jamaican proverb: "Cock can' ride 'pon harseback dough him hab 'pur", I.e. Even a special gift will not make you competent for everything.
