1967

SHEPHERD BENG, BENG * PRINCE BUSTER & TEDDY KING * FAB 41 * UK

A surprisingly popular record with the Skinheads in the late 1960s as it is something of a oddity. It is, for the most part, a slow Rock Steady paced conversation between Prince Buster and a shaman played by Teddy King, with Teddy King breaking out into song (Gypsy Woman) only towards the end of the record. It was first released on the B side of Fab 21 as Shepherd Ben, then as one of four different Fab 41 issues. Two of the four had Shepherd Beng, Beng, but both had different B sides, the above has Ride Your Donkey on the flip.
