FOOL, FOOL, FOOL * THE CLOVERS * ATLANTIC 504 * USA

Written by Ahmet Ertegun Fool, Fool, Fool was recorded on July 12th at WHOM Studios in New York and released the following month in August 1951 on Atlantic 944, one of the earliest 45s to be issued on the label. At the time the group were riding high with the surprising success of Don't you know I Love You their first release for Atlantic and another Ertegun song, both songs reached the coveted number one spot in Billboards R&B charts. The above E.P. was the fourth issued by the label many of the early issues had the same generic cover design with the picture and the track listing changed for each artist; it's interesting to speculate if the spiral seen on the left could have been a precursor to the 'spinning wheel' logo featured on later pressings.
