The Queen of Rock Steady started out singing with The Vulcan's, touring and playing across the Island. Her first single, the self penned, Don't Stay Away was recorded for Duke Reid and came out in 1966. Phyllis Dillon left Jamaica in 1967 and settled down in New York, occasionally returning to the Island to do live dates and record.
