ROCK STEADY * ALTON ELLIS AND THE FLAMES * TREASURE ISLE 7004 * UK

Duke Reid launched his Treasure Isle label in the UK at the onset of the Rock Steady period, and, in the opinion of many, produced and issued the best music of the period. Even with its banal lyrics the overall sound and je ne sais quoi of the vocals from Alton Ellis with the Flames and musical backing from Tommy McCook and the Supersonics, make the above cut a killer tune and one of the most significant of the era.
