Released in the UK during November 1971 Save The Children was the second track to be taken from Marvin Gaye's seminal 'concept' album What's Going On (released in the UK two months earlier). Not released as a single in the US Save The Children was, incongruously, backed with a reissue of Little Darling (I Need You) from 1966. Save The Children was co-written by Four Tops member Obie Benson, who also co-wrote What' Going On.
