ON THE BEACH (MEDLEY) * JOHN HOLT * TREASURE ISLE * USA

Another development in West Indian music around the time of the Reggae explosion was the 'Medley'. A kind of Version, this was a way of joining up a string of familiar verses from favorite songs, and adapting them onto the new Reggae rhythm. The Reggae rhythm on these records was able to adapt itself while at the same time retain a feel of its original, whether this was Shuffle, Ska, Rock Steady or whatever. The above is on a slow Reggae rhythm, and features many of the Paragons favorites starts of with My Best Girl, then Silver Bird and finishes with On The Beach.
