SKOKIAAN * DYNAMITES * CLANDISC 200 * UK

The first release on Clancy Eccles British Clandisc imprint is this homage to Skokiaan a self-made alcoholic beverage typically brewed over one day that may contain a dangerous ingredient.  Skokiaan, Skokiyana or Skokian was written by Zimbabwean musician August Musarurwa and recorded by him with The African Dance Band of the Cold Storage Commission of Southern Rhodesia. There were no less than eighteen other African cover recordings by when it was first released in 1954, it then traveled Stateside where it scored in the the top twenty Pop charts, where it was recorded by many more including, Bill Haley, Hugh Masekela and Louis Armstrong. I don't know which release was the first but it was pressed up twice on Clandisc once as the B side as MR Midnight with credits to Clancy Eccles (see below) and as the A side as Skokiaan with MR Midnight in brackets and  credited to Musarurwa; I am not sure which was released first, my guess is the one below with MR Midnight as the B side.
