GOD LOVES YOU SOUL SISTER * THE GAYLADS * TROJAN 7771 * UK

An encouraging and motivational song addressed to 'Soul sisters' women and girls, in the context of equality, before, what the Gaylads see as, our maker. It takes nothing from this, fine 'driven' early Reggae cut, that the Gaylads have to appeal to an abstract, and what is thought to be an higher authority, to validate the worth of women, the thrust of the message remains intact: a musical blend of stimulus, support, advocacy, comfort, hope and optimism. Possibly many might see this song patronizing from a feminist perspective, if that is so I would say in mitigation that the conditions and context in which it was made might bear a wider perspective.
