HELPLESS * KIM WESTON * GORDY 7050 * USA
Kim Weston's first recording was It Should Have Been Me on Tamla 54076 in 1963, after four more solo releases she was moved, in 1965, from Tamla to Gordy; Helpless her last for the imprint is a class platter, with that rich and punchy sounding production that is indicative of the swelling confidence that success had imbued much of the Tamla Motown productions at this time.
Written and produced by Motown's outstanding creative trio Holland, Dozier and Holland, Helpless contains the killer line "I'm in a hopeless state of confusion and your love is the only solution".
