CALIFORNIA DREAMING * BOBBY WOMACK * MINIT 11012 * UK

California Dreaming (the lyrics of the song are about a man in a cold winter landscape longing for the warmth of California) was written and recorded by The Mamas and Papas in 1965. Produced by Chips Moman Bobby Womack brings a poignancy to the song which has an aching sadness running through it, a hollowness as in unrequited love or a persons unfulfilled life ambitions.

Along with his Fly Me To The Moon, also released by Minit, this song helped to bring Bobby Womack back into the record buying public consciousness after being cold shouldered for a long period; and formed a platform from which he was to achieve stardom in the 1970s.
