(Your love keeps lifting me) Higher And Higher blended the, then, almost inescapable Motown sound with Gospel's fervor to give Jackie Wilson a belated chart success in the UK two years after its original release in 1969, and again in a third reissue six years later in 1975, and one more time after a lapse of twelve years in 1987.
The British 1987 reissue came in a bizarre picture sleeve with a picture of a puppet holding a salad filled French stick, another picture of a young man outside a building and a third with a somewhat gormless looking Jackie Wilson grinning at nothing in particular (see below). Just what these images were meant to convey I have no idea, my guess is that they were related to some ill conceived music video for the song.
