IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR * WILSON PICKETT * ATLANTIC 4306 * UK

One of the biggest Soul records of year in the UK, played everywhere and almost every night dancers would hit the floor whenever this came on; more than any record by Otis Redding, James Brown or Aretha Franklin this was the heart of Soul music for many of those dancers in the clubs, dance halls and party's of the time. In The Midnight Hour went to # 1 on the R&B charts and # 21 Pop and prompted an instant answer record, but like many great records its popularity has tended to overshadow the shear quality of the music for many listeners, though it remains a great Soul song from a great Soul singer.
